Sunday evening, the Blues offered an extraordinary spectacle by coming close to victory in the World Cup final against Argentina. So, this Monday morning, waking up is a bit hard for the French, disappointed to have lost the match but proud of their team.

Whether you are a football fan or not, it was impossible on Sunday to remain indifferent to the prowess of the Blues. 24 million viewers watched the game, that’s a record. Despite incredible adventures, France did not come out on top in this competition. After this terrible disappointment, everyone is talking only about football this Monday morning.

A sad and disappointing next morning

Two words are in the mouths of passers-by this Monday morning: “I am a little disappointed”, explains a Parisian at the microphone of Europe 1. “I am sad”, adds another. This aftermath of defeat has a slightly bitter taste: “To forget, it was complicated”, adds a passerby. This Monday morning, between two Christmas purchases, some replay the match: “It was the first half that was a little harmful to the Blues”, analyzes a pedestrian. “We came back well and lost on penalties, that’s it…”, sighs another pedestrian.

To the next third star?

Many disappointments but also admiration for the Blues: “No, we don’t blame them. I think they will always be adored. They have a future. I think they will have revenge to take” , predicts a lady.

“We are still waiting for the third star one day!”, smiles a young man. The French are already thinking of the European championship in two years and then the next World Cup which will be in 2026.
