PARIS (Reuters) – New car registrations in France are expected to rise in December, for the fifth month in a row, but not necessarily enough to bring the French car market back into the green over the year, an official told Reuters. source close to the case.

After long months of decline against a backdrop of shortages of components and worries about inflation and the international situation, registrations have rebounded since August thanks to a catch-up in deliveries.

But the magnitude of the rise in December, which will be published by the Automotive Industry Platform (PFA) on Sunday, will tell whether the timid rebound of 2021 is confirmed, or if it has fizzled. Cumulatively until November, the French automobile market remained down 8.7%.
