July 24 (Reuters) – MP Eric Ciotti says he is “ready to take up the challenge” of the presidency of the Les Républicains (LR) party following the resignation of Laurent Wauquiez, declaring in an interview with the JDD to have “started work for to offer both a broad gathering and a modernized political offer”.
If he indicates that his final decision is “not completely taken” for the congress next December, Eric Ciotti says that the result obtained at last year’s congress “encourages him to clear this path of l audacity and courage”, while emphasizing that Laurent Wauquiez remained in his opinion the best placed to “hope for victory” in the presidential election of 2027.
The deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, who advocates an “ideological revolution” and the “need to affirm a political line resolutely on the right”, ensures to ignore the announced departures of elected LR in the event of his arrival at the head of the party.
