France: further decline in household confidence

(CercleFinance.com) – In June, the confidence of French households continued to decline, for the sixth consecutive month: at 82, the INSEE synthetic indicator lost three points and thus remained well below its long-term average period (100 between January 1987 and December 2021).

Households’ balance of opinion on their past financial situation has lost two points, and that of their future personal financial situation has dropped by one point. These two balances remain well below their long-term average.

The proportion of households that consider that the standard of living in France has improved over the last twelve months is decreasing, as is that of those who consider that it will improve over the next twelve months.

Household fears about unemployment trends are rebounding slightly, but the proportion of households believing that prices will accelerate over the next twelve months continues to fall, while remaining well above its long-term average.
