France: HICP inflation slowed to 3.1% in February year-on-year, says INSEE


PARIS (Reuters) – Harmonized inflation slowed year-on-year in February in France due to a lower rise in the prices of food, manufactured products and services, show preliminary data published Thursday by INSEE.

The consumer price index harmonized according to European standards (HICP) stood at 3.1% in France in February over one year, after +3.4% the previous month, and +0.9% from one month to the next, after -0.2% in January.

Analysts polled by Reuters expected on average an increase of 3% year-on-year and 0.7% month-on-month.

Inflation calculated according to French standards slowed to 2.9% in February over one year but increased by 0.8% over one month, compared to respectively +3.1% over one year and -0.2% over one year. a month in January.

Analysts expected an increase of 2.7% over one year and 0.7% over one month.​
