France: household confidence continues to fall in July


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–French household confidence deteriorated for the seventh consecutive month in July, according to the latest business survey from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee), published on Wednesday. .

The synthetic household confidence indicator fell by 2 points in July, to stand at 80, a level well below its long-term average, which stood at 100.

“In July, the share of households who consider that the standard of living in France has improved over the past 12 months is falling again,” notes INSEE. The corresponding balance lost 5 points and remained clearly below its long-term average.

At the same time, the share of households who consider in July that prices have increased over the last 12 months in France is increasing again. The corresponding balance has gained 1 point and is at its highest since the summer of 2008.
