The time has come for dematerialization. For more than a year, the French government has been experimenting on Android and iOS with its France Identity service, which aims to first digitize the identity card, and later the driving license. Expected for early 2024, the service is quietly continuing its development. The latest step is obtaining security certification allowing its deployment on a larger number of devices.
More secure, France Identity opens up to other horizons
Available in beta since September 2023 for Android and iOS users, France Identity aims to become the major identification service for carrying out administrative procedures. By storing the new identity card on a smartphone, the application currently allows you to securely provide single-use proof of identity and identify yourself with FranceConnect.
Small problem, the service was not available on all devices. Good news, Allo Forfait has just reported that first level security certification (CSPN) has just been delivered to the France Idêtes application on Android and iOS by the National Information Systems Security Agency (ANSSI) .
While some phones did not allow you to take advantage of the application for security reasons, this now seems to be resolved, at least in part, according to our findings.
Versions 1.2.3 on iOS and 1.2.4 on Android from France Idêtes thus benefit from sufficient regulatory security to operate on a wider range of phones.
As a reminder, France Identity requires certain prerequisites in order to be used:
- Have the new national identity card;
- To be of age ;
- Residing on French territory;
- Have a smartphone running at least Android 8 or iOS 16.
