France: New car registrations fell 22.6% in April


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Registrations of new passenger cars in France fell by 22.6% over one year in April, in raw data, announced Sunday The Automotive Platform (PFA) which brings together the sector in the Hexagon.

During the fourth month of 2022, France recorded 108,723 new car registrations, compared to 140,426 a year earlier, knowing that April 2022 had one working day less than the same month of 2021.

Stellantis suffered a more pronounced drop than that of the market, with a fall in its registrations of new vehicles of 29.3% in April, while the Renault group suffered a slightly more moderate decline, of 21%. Volkswagen, the third market player in France, saw its registrations fall by 30.2% last month.

Over the first four months of 2022, a period which had the same number of working days as in 2021, new car registrations in France stood at 474,083 units, i.e. a decrease of 18.6% over a year in raw data.
