PARIS (Reuters) – France respects the choice of the Italians to bring to power the right-wing coalition led by Giorgia Meloni, the Presidency of the Republic said on Monday, the day after the victory in the legislative elections in Italy of the alliance led by the post-fascist party Brothers of Italy (Fratelli d’Italia).
“The Italian people have made a democratic and sovereign choice. We respect it,” said the Elysée. “As neighbors and friends, we must continue to work together. It is as Europeans that we will succeed in meeting our common challenges.”
