New medals for the French at the European Swimming Championships. The French relay, made up of Hadrien Salvan, Wissam-Amazigh Yebba, Charlotte Bonnet and Lucile Tessariol, won the silver medal in the mixed 4 x 200m freestyle relay on Tuesday August 16.
The French team achieved a time of 7m 29s 25, behind the British (7m 28s 16) and ahead of the Italians (7m 31s 85).
In the lead before the last length, the young Lucile Tessariol (18), flanked by the British bronze medalist in the 100m, Freya Anderson, at the water line number 5, cracked in the last meters. The previous relay, provided by Charlotte Bonnet, had allowed the Blues to approach Great Britain to two tenths.
Silver medalist in the 100m and titled in the 4 x 100m mixed relay, Charlotte Bonnet, left to rest in the series, won her third award of the competition.
Ninth French Medal
The 4 x 200 m mixed relay brings the ninth medal of the French delegation, the second of the evening session after the bronze of Damien Joly on 1,500 m. At 30, the pupil of Philippe Lucas has thus won his first international medal.
He set a time of 14m 50s 86, behind the Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri and the Ukrainian European champion, Mykhaïlo Romanchuk (14m 36s 10).
Earlier in the evening, Pauline Mahieu failed at the foot of the 100m backstroke podium and Emma Terebo at the 6e square.
