PARIS (Reuters) – The government announced on Friday that the border health control system in mainland France would evolve from this Saturday, to adapt to the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic and to the rules in force in the European Union. .

In a press release, Matignon indicated that travelers from the EU vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer be forced to carry out a screening test on departure, proof of vaccination once again becoming sufficient to arrive in mainland France regardless of the country. of provenance – as was the case before the spread of the Omicron variant.

With regard to non-vaccinated travellers, it is indicated, the obligation to present a negative test to travel to France remains. However, for people coming from so-called “green” countries, where the circulation of the coronavirus is moderate, the measures on arrival (test, isolation) are lifted.

The government has clarified that the appearance of a variant of the coronavirus presenting a risk of increased transmissibility or immune escape would cause an “emergency brake” concerning the country of origin, with the obligation to present a compelling reason for travel , to present a negative test on departure – even for those vaccinated – and to submit to a test on arrival.
