The industrial tribunal condemned France Télévisions to pay compensation and damages to journalist Pierre-Etienne Léonard for unfair dismissal. The case dates back to 2020 and an internal investigation at France Télévisions, triggered after an interview with journalist Clémentine Sarlat on sexism in the service of sports.

45,000 euros in compensation and 100,000 euros in damages. This is the amount that France Télévisions will have to pay to journalist Pierre-Etienne Léonard for unfair dismissal. The case dates back to 2020: in an interview with our colleagues from The Teamthe journalist Clémentine Sarlat had denounced the sexist behavior of some of her colleagues in the sports department of France Télévisions.

Following this article, an internal investigation had been opened and the management of the France Télévisions group had dismissed three employees, including Pierre-Etienne Léonard. The latter had challenged before the industrial tribunal this dismissal, which he described as unfounded.

According to this journalist, none of the 56 testimonies resulting from the internal investigation were aimed at him. And Clémentine Sarlat, who would be one of her friends, would have even testified in her favor. The Paris industrial tribunal therefore agreed with him by condemning France Télévisions for this dismissal qualified as “unfair” and “without real or serious cause”.
