France Télévisions withdraws from Salto

Salto could soon turn the page on France Télévisions. The public audiovisual group has just ratified an agreement with TF1 and M6 in order to withdraw from the French video-on-demand platform. This arrangement is obviously subject to the approval by the Competition Authority of the proposed merger of the TF1 and M6 groups.

In the event of a merger, the two private players have undertaken to buy out the 33.33% stake in France Télévisions “pfor a final value of 45 million euros“, Indicates the three shareholders in a press release. This corresponds to the amount that each broadcaster had initially committed to paying to operate the platform. Since then, there have been other expenses. But, overall, the operation will be more or less neutral for France Télévisions.
