France: The automotive market up 5.46% in September


PARIS, Oct 1 (Reuters) – New car registrations in France rose 5.46% year on year in August, data released by the Automotive Platform (PFA) showed on Saturday.

The sector federation recorded a total of 141,142 registrations of new private vehicles in France last month.

Over the first nine months of the year, with 1,112,072 registrations, the French market for new cars shows a drop of 11.77% in raw data.

Registrations of the Stellantis group, which includes the Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Fiat and Opel brands, among others, increased by 1.68% in September but fell by 15.51% over nine months.

The Renault group (Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands) saw its registrations in France drop by 4.96% in September compared to the same month of 2021, and by 7.97% since the start of the year. (Written by Marc Angrand)
