July 23 (Reuters) – The forest fire that ravaged several thousand hectares in La Teste-de-Buch, in Gironde, has been fixed, the Prefecture of New Aquitaine and Gironde reported on Saturday, indicating that all evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes.
In a press release, the prefecture said that the Landiras fire was contained but not considered fixed, citing the risk of resumption.
“About thirty homes remaining active, the surveillance of the massif, the treatment of the edges and the resumption of fire, as well as the civil engineering work are continuing today”, she declared.
Significant land and air resources remain mobilized in the region, she added. (Written by Jean Terzian)
