Investing.com – Banque de France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau is reportedly pushing for stricter regulatory requirements for cryptocurrency companies in France, according to a Bloomberg report.

He would thus like to get ahead of the European Union’s historic Regulation on Crypto Asset Markets (MiCA), which would establish a block-scale licensing regime for crypto businesses and is expected to be voted on in February. for implementation in 2024.

Recall that obtaining a license in France for crypto companies, officially referred to as “digital asset service providers (DASP)” is currently optional and no provider has one, according to Bloomberg.

By contrast, around 60 companies have the less strict designation of “registration” from the French market authority AMF.

“All the mess of 2022 feeds a simple conviction: it is desirable that France move as quickly as possible to a compulsory license of DASP, rather than a simple registration”, declared Mr. Villeroy Thursday in a speech in Paris.
