PARIS (Reuters) – The French state wants to remove the salary cap for the next EDF boss in order to find the best profile to lead the energy group and succeed its CEO Jean-Bernard Lévy, the newspaper Les Echos reported on Thursday. .
According to the daily, the executive is considering modifying or repealing the decree which caps the remuneration of the bosses of public companies at 450,000 euros.
“The idea would be to blow the ceiling on the remuneration of the boss of EDF, set at 450,000 euros per year, as in all other public companies,” a source familiar with the subject told Les Echos.
“We should either raise this ceiling or repeal this decree,” the source said.
The Ministry of the Economy did not wish to comment on this information.
