PARIS, March 27 (Reuters) – The French State, which will file a complaint against the group of private nursing homes Orpea, will ask for the reimbursement of public funding used irregularly in the amount of several tens of millions of euros, declares the minister in charge Autonomy in the Sunday Journal.
“The order of magnitude is several tens of millions of euros for the period 2017-2020”, says Brigitte Bourguignon.
The announcement of the filing of a complaint on Saturday came the day after the government was given reports from the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (IGAS) and the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), which report on financial practices irregular.
In a press release published on Saturday evening, Orpea “takes note” of the government’s decision.
“This transmission will allow us to explain ourselves in serenity, to assert our rights and of course to collaborate with the Justice whenever necessary”, says the group accused in the book “Les Fossoyeurs”, published at the end of January, of favoring the profitability on the well-being of the elderly.
“We regret that the report of the inspection mission, as well as the 177 pages (excluding supporting documents) of very detailed responses that we provided to it, are not made public, nor made available to all the parties – The only elements that have been disclosed are indeed a preliminary report presented in a damning way for Orpea and not taking into account our responses”, he adds.
