France to chair emergency EU meeting on Russian gas

PARIS (Reuters) – An extraordinary session of the Council of European Ministers in charge of energy will be organized on Monday, French Minister for Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili announced on Thursday.

“Following the cessation of Russian gas deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria, Europeans remain united and united,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I will bring together my counterparts on Monday afternoon for an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers in charge of energy,” said the minister.

Russian energy giant Gazprom halted gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria on Wednesday, Russia’s strongest reaction yet to European sanctions against it over its military offensive in Ukraine.
