In a press release published on the evening of March 13, 2024, France Travail (formerly called Pôle Emploi) announced that it had been the victim of computer hackers. The public establishment warns of “disclosure risk” personal data of “potentially” 43 million registered. It’s about all the people “registered within the last 20 years”but also users who have a candidate space on the platform without even being present on the list of job seekers.

This large-scale hack comes after attacks by a “unprecedented intensity” which targeted public services at the start of the week. This cyberattack, the perpetrators of which remain unknown, led to an exfiltration of data between February 6 and March 5, 2024.
The banking data was not stolen, but France Connect reports that very sensitive elements are now in the hands of the hackers: names, first names, social security numbers, telephone numbers, postal addresses and email addresses.
France Travail invites you to file a complaint
In its press release, France Travail specifies that as provided for by the GDPR, all people concerned by “this personal data breach” will be contacted. If this is your case, the risk of hackers trying to phish you is very high given the confidential information they now have.
If you are affected by this hacking and France Travail informs you, the government has set up a complaint letter form accessible from this address. No need to go to the police station or the gendarmerie, everything is done online.
Since these events, France Travail indicates that it has filed a complaint and has indicated that the incident has been reported to the CNIL. An investigation was opened by the authorities.
