If you are a bit of a fan of board games, you probably know The Werewolves of Thiercelieux. In this game, each player embodies a werewolf or a villager. The goal is to unmask and kill the werewolves in the villagers, and eliminate each villager as a werewolf taking care never to be spotted. In 2024, The Werewolves of Thierceleux will come to life on the small screen, thanks to Netflix.
Indeed, the famous board game imagined by Philippe des Pallières and Hervé Marty in 2001 will soon arrive on Netflix. It was comedian Franck Dubosc who formalized the news on his Twitter account. The film will be directed by François Uzan, and on the casting side, in addition to Franck Dubosc, we will find on screen Jean Reno, Jonathan Lambert, Suzanne Clément, or even Grégory Fitoussi.
A French “Jumanji”?
On the synopsis side, this live action version of Werewolves of Thiercelieux will follow the (mis)adventures of a blended family, immersed in the XVe century after discovering the card game in an attic. As you will have understood, to return to their world, the members of the family will have to play werewolves and complete the game.
For the director, the objective is to make ” an adventure and family film with humor, and of course chills “. François Uzan also announces having obtained the green light from the creators to design what is described by The Parisian like a ” French Jumanji “.
The film, co-financed by Netflix, is shot in the Barrandov studios in the Czech Republic and should be posted on the American streaming platform in the course of 2024. Remember that François Uzan has already collaborated with the American giant, with series In place.
