Franck Dubosc: Patrick Chirac from Camping, it’s not him!

At the microphone of the Sunday Journal, Franck Dubosc returned to the Camping saga and believes that this comic “parenthesis” did not really correspond to him.

Camping 4, it’s not for tomorrow! The actor, humorist, author and director Franck Dubosc, currently in full promotion of his next feature film Rumba la vie, returned for The JDD on his initial intentions with the Camping films, which have become a landmark franchise in French cinema.

Referring to his adolescence and his first writings, the interpreter of Patrick Chirac confided that he had started to add humor to it to broaden his audience, but that at the start, they were tempted by emotion, which is more like to his personality:

When I was working on my own campsite, which was called ‘July 14 – August 15’, I emphasized the social angle. Then with Fabien Onteniente, we brought him more towards comedy. If we had shot my version, of course I would have touched fewer people, the film would have been less family-friendly.

The actor, however, seems to indicate that the 100% comic atmosphere of the Camping films is behind him, now evoking this saga which lasted almost a decade as a “parenthesis”:

I do not deny anything of this parenthesis in my journey a little more… Oh, I don’t want to say vulgar, that would be excessive. When I signed Everyone Up, my relatives said to me ‘Ah well, there, it’s you!’. My wife, when I make somewhat heavy jokes, she can’t stand it.

With Everyone Upright, his first staging, Franck Dubosc has indeed shown a more sensitive aspect of his acting, giving the reply to an impeccable Alexandra Lamy in a register closer to dramatic comedy.

The comedian returns with a film in the same vein, Rumba la vie, the story of a father whose health is weakened by a heart attack seeking to reconnect with his daughter whom he abandoned twenty years earlier. Released this Wednesday in cinemas.

Special Quiz Camping 2!

Franck Dubosc has already finished writing his next production and will be in several films over the next two years, but no Camping 4 on the horizon. And given his recent remarks, it’s not for tomorrow either!
