On November 15, the appeal trial of François and Penelope Fillon opened. Five after the start of the fictitious jobs scandal, the couple found themselves once again in court. Once again the whole Fillon family found themselves in the spotlight. Indeed, even their five children saw their lives changed the day the Penelopegate came out. Marie, Charles, Antoine, Edouard and Arnaud Fillon are for some known to the French : the eldest, Marie, aged 39, was seen in an episode ofIntimate Ambition, dedicated to his father. A lawyer, she was followed by her brother, Charles, 36, who specialized in stock market law and company law.
Antoine Fillon, the third, preferred the world of finance to him while Édouard, 31, works in an investment company. Finally, there is the last, Antoine, 19 years old, student, in preparatory class. Moreover, the youngest of the siblings was not really expected by the Fillon couple: “It was absolutely a surprise. I was 47 years old. There I said to myself it’s not possible, I can’t let it grow without seeing it. So already I took care of it much more. And above all I brought the family back to Paris”, he confided to Current Values.
François Fillon: “Basically they were raised by their mother”
The first four, François Fillon admits not having educated them: “The first four, I didn’t have much time to see them grow up because I was a deputy. It was seven days a week. I was in Paris while my family was in Sarthe. So basically they were brought up by their mother.” But when the scandal broke, the whole clan protects itself and unites. Charles Fillon explained: “I don’t feel the need to rebuild myself compared to the past few years. I’m quite indifferent to it. What is more complicated, however, is for the parents, who feel guilty for having imposed this on us. But I don’t blame dad at all”. A beautiful proof of love.
