Françoise Hardy: deprived of saliva for 3 years, attacks of suffocation … her "unbearable" daily life: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It's an interview "eye to eye" as she sang it so well … Because for seventeen years now, Francoise Hardy can no longer sing, their throat and vocal cords being too affected by the chemotherapy rays that followed his two cancers. In 2004, Jacques Dutronc's ex-companion was affected by cancer of the lymphatic system. A test for the singer who will finally be in remission two years later. In 2017, cancer strikes again: diagnosed with pharyngeal tumor. An unbearable period for his son, Thomas Dutronc, to whom it is announced that "it is the end". But Françoise Hardy is tough. Plunged into a coma for a month, she will finally be stabilized and returned home. Today under treatment, the singer confides in Paris Match.

"Respiratory distress, attacks of suffocation, suffocation, hemorrhages …"

Following numerous immunotherapy sessions, Francoise Hardy became deaf in one ear. However, this is not what spoils her daily life the most … The seventy-six-year-old singer is handicapped by many side effects: "Deprived of saliva for three years by forty-five radiotherapy sessions, I constantly have respiratory distress, attacks of choking and suffocation, not to mention nasal hemorrhages (…) I am not afraid of dying but I am very afraid of suffering ", she confided. Even worse than the physical suffering, that of losing those who illuminate your life: "Fear of the suffering of having to separate myself from the two beings I love the most in the world, Thomas and his father".

During this long interview, Francoise Hardy timidly evokes the end of his life. If she is not afraid of dying, she regrets not being able to choose the moment of her death: "When my condition becomes even more unbearable, I will, unfortunately, not have the relief of knowing that I can be euthanized. France is inhuman on this level ", she confides. When our colleagues from Paris Match ask her what she would like to be remembered, her response is a real cry from the heart: "I wish my big Tom would remember me as a mom who loved him and who loves him more than anything. Jacques knows he was and is the man of my life. "
