He starred with Timothy Dalton in “James Bond 007 License to Kill”. Now the actor and ex-football star Frank McRae has died.

Frank McRae, an NFL-turned actor who appeared in the 1989 James Bond film “License to Kill” as agent buddy Sharkey and as a lieutenant in the 1993 Arnold Schwarzenegger film “Last Action Hero” Dekker died on April 29 of a heart attack in Santa Monica. He was 80 years old. The news was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Suzanne McRae, as reported by “Deadline”, among other things.

Born in Memphis, he attended Tennessee State University with a double degree in drama and history and then moved to the NFL as a defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams. After his football career, he became a character actor in the entertainment industry and has appeared in more than 40 films. His filmography includes “FIST – Ein Mann geht seine Weg” (1978) with Sylvester Stallone (74), with whom he also appeared in “Paradise Alley” (1978), “Lock Up” (1989) and “Rocky II” (1979) appeared.

The bereaved include his son Marcellus, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren: Camden, Jensen and Holden. Donations in his memory can be made to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, an orphan elephant rescue and wildlife rehabilitation program in Kenya.
