Frank Zander would like to bring more peace into his life. The Berlin cult singer announces the end of his stage career.

Frank Zander (81) says goodbye to the big stage. The singer announced to the Berlin newspaper “BZ” that his appearance at Berlin’s “SchlagerOlymp” on August 12 will be his last. “I sang almost everything. I said almost everything. I did almost everything,” said Zander. Now he “deserves to bring some peace into my life”.

He didn’t make the decision lightly, but he wanted to resign when it’s most beautiful, as Frank Zander revealed to “BZ”. At “SchlagerOlymp” he finally performed in front of a good 10,000 people. He recently played in front of 22,000 people at the Waldbühne Berlin.

But Frank Zander doesn’t want to disappear completely from the public eye: “I’m still here and want to stay a little longer.” The original Berliner now wants to focus on painting. At the opening of the exhibition, the trained graphic artist will also “sing a song or two, maybe three.”

Frank Zander wants to continue to be there for Hertha and the homeless

Even if his heart club Hertha BSC calls, Frank Zander will sing in the stadium, that’s what the singer of “BZ” promised. In 1993 he wrote the club’s anthem “Only home (we’re not going)” for the football club.

Frank Zander wants to continue his commitment to the homeless. Since 1995 he has held a big Christmas dinner every year. Last year, Zander was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, first class, for his commitment.

Frank Zander has been active on stage for over 50 years. In 1975 his solo debut Wahnsinn came out. In 1981 he had his first number one hit with “Yes, if we were all angels”. In the 80s he specialized in humorous interpretations of well-known songs. In 1989 he released the cult song “Here Comes Kurt”, which he later recorded again and again.

Frank Zander has been married to his wife Evi since 1968. He can now “rob her last nerve a little more often”.
