Frankfurt becomes Milan in the 22nd century – as far as the climate is concerned

Et is terribly hot in Germany, and if you look closely, you will notice how this is changing the way of life. All of a sudden, lots of melons are being bought, people are only dressed as customary allows, and children are dancing through the water fountains in the parks. When it comes to summer streetscapes, Germany has been transitioning from a Nordic to a more Mediterranean country for years. Picnic blankets lie on the lawns, people sit at sidewalk cafes, people sneak more than they walk, and the dates are late evening rather than midday heat.

Anyone who is reminded of their last vacation in Italy is confirmed by the German Weather Service. He calculated that a city like Frankfurt in the year 2100 will have a climate like Milan today. Much is still uncertain in the climate catastrophe, for example how many droughts, hot summers and cold spells we can expect. But the big trend is clear: Germany is becoming more Italian.
