Frankfurt will receive the EL final in 2027
Eintracht boss names Bayer’s record series the “season of the century”

Celebrations in Frankfurt: The metropolis on the Main will host the final of the Europa League in 2027. Leipzig can also be happy, but Stuttgart comes away empty-handed. Eintracht Frankfurt’s boss is now calling the season of this year’s Europa League finalists, Bayer Leverkusen, the “season of the century”.
The final of the Europa League in 2027 will take place in Frankfurt am Main. The European Football Union UEFA announced this in Dublin. For the third time after the premiere season in 2009/2010 with the final in Hamburg and in Cologne in 2020, a Europa League final will take place in a German stadium. In addition to Frankfurt, Leipzig can also look forward to a European Cup final. The Conference League final will take place there in 2026.
Stuttgart, which had hoped for the Women’s Champions League final in 2026 or 2027, came away empty-handed. Since two other German cities, Frankfurt and Leipzig, are already hosting a final in both years, Stuttgart cannot be taken into account, UEFA said. The decision for the host city at least in 2027 has officially only been postponed; there is still hope, it was said.
The men’s Champions League final will be held in the Hungarian capital Budapest in 2026. Milan is scheduled for 2027. However, a decision is still pending in order to await the renovation plans for the San Siro Stadium.
Hellmann: Leverkusen is “clear favorite”
Meanwhile, board spokesman Axel Hellmann from Eintracht Frankfurt considers the current season of German soccer champions Bayer Leverkusen to be a performance that may not be repeated. “Leverkusen is playing a season of the century,” said Hellmann after the UEFA executive meeting in Dublin. “Unbeaten in 51 competitive games in all competitions, not even Bayern managed that, that doesn’t actually exist. They have to enjoy it because they won’t experience it like that again. Maybe no one will experience it anymore.”
Hellmann sees Bayer as the “clear favorite” for the Europa League final against Atalanta Bergamo this evening. It would also be good for the Bundesliga if a German team won the Europa League two years after Eintracht. “Because I’ve seen what it does to a club.” However, Hellmann also has two hearts beating in his chest, “because our fans have a special relationship with those of Atalanta.” And the Italians are “a very unpleasant opponent.
