Franz Beckenbauer
His brother comments on his health
The football world has been worried about Franz Beckenbauer for months: After several confidants have already spoken out about his health, his brother has now confirmed that the 78-year-old is “not doing well”.
The last comments were made on the occasion of his birthday on September 11th Pierre Littbarski and Rudi Völler, both 63, about the condition of the former official. “We all want him to get healthy again. He is by far the biggest figurehead in German football,” Völler told RTL about his long-time companion. Now brother Walter is also giving an update.
Franz Beckenbauer’s brother Walter gives a health update
In the new ARD documentary “Beckenbauer”, which will be available in the media library from January 2, 2024 and is already available on RTL, the brother of the former football star has his say. “If I were to say now that he is fine, then I would be lying, and I don’t like lying,” says Walter Beckenbauer there, adding: “He’s not feeling well. It’s a constant up and down.” Current recordings or statements from the “Kaiser” are not included in the documentary.
Lothar Matthäus has already commented on Beckenbauer
Lothar Matthäus, 62, also chose similar words to Walter in August of this year when he spoke about his good friend. He explained to “RTL” at the time: “His health isn’t going well. That’s why he wasn’t at the World Cup meeting four or five weeks ago. We hope, of course, that things go in the other direction.” At the beginning of July, the 1990 world champions all came together in Bavaria, around 33 years after their great triumph, but Beckenbauer, the popular and celebrated team boss at the time, was unable to attend.
“We wish him all the health, that he becomes his old self again, with his energy. We of course hope that he gets better again. Franz always said that health is the most important thing in life. He doesn’t have that at the moment.” , emphasized Matthew.
