Former Spider Murphy gang drummer Franz Trojan is dead. The founding member died at the age of 64.
The founding member of the Bavarian rock’n’roll cult band Spider Murphy Gang, Franz Trojan, is dead. This was initially reported by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation on its website, citing the management of the group. Trojan, who belonged to the band until 1992, was 64 years old. He died on September 15 in his adopted home, the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Kamp-Lintfort. The death has also been confirmed on the band’s Facebook page.
According to a statement by Lothar Schlessmann from the concert agency Hello Concerts, the band recently had no contact with Trojan, who has long since withdrawn. Trojan founded the band Spider Murphy Gang in 1977 with singer and bassist Günther Sigl (74) and guitarist Barny Murphy (67). They had their biggest hit together in 1981 with the number one single “Scandal im Sperrgebiet”.
