Fraud trial – fake police officers fear revenge from the Hells Angels

They were supposed to defraud senior citizens, but a resolute Styrian woman became skeptical and alerted the police. Now the two fake police officers in Graz have been convicted.

According to defense attorney Elke Weidinger, the two young men sitting in the dock in Graz on Tuesday are just henchmen. But not just any henchmen, but those of a huge criminal organization – led by the Hells Angels, emphasizes prosecutor Alexandra Ibler. “There are professional, transnational structures behind the perpetrators here,” explains the prosecutor. “Boars based in Turkey pretend on the phone that they want to protect their victims from robberies and protect their assets.” The defendants from Munich were recruited to act as plainclothes officers to pick up the loot in Graz. “Seen too many crime stories” 90,000 euros wanted to fix the victim from the bank. “They really asked questions like the real police. Maybe I’ve seen too many crime dramas,” smiles the resolute lady. Luckily, the Styrian woman became skeptical and called in the real police. The 22-year-old first defendant and his chauffeur (24) were caught during the fictitious handover of money. “Didn’t know we were supposed to defraud old people.” “I’m glad nothing happened to you,” the younger man apologized to the senior. His accomplice also asked for forgiveness “from the bottom of his heart. We were manipulated.” They were lured with quick money. “Five percent of the loot. But we didn’t know that we were supposed to defraud old people.” Their fear of revenge from the bosses is now great. The first defendant also does not want to name any names. “They don’t shy away from anything. They’ll find one.”The lay judges’ court (chaired by Andreas Rom) sentenced the 22-year-old to two years in prison because of his previous convictions. His friend gets away with 18 months of partial disability. Because he was in custody for eight months, he is allowed to go home. The public prosecutor made no statement and the verdicts are therefore not legally binding.
