Frédéric Encel on the war in Ukraine: “The next few days are likely to be terrible”

Frédéric Encel, doctor in geopolitics, returned on March 3 to the Russian offensive in Ukraine, believing that the “next days are likely to be terrible”.

According to him, Vladimir Putin suffers from a “wounded beast syndrome”, which continues to defend himself even after suffering several setbacks.

“When you’re at the head of a great power, you’ve launched an offensive, and it doesn’t work out the way you wanted it to, you didn’t imagine such severe sanctions and, icing on the cake, even China refrains from supporting you, what are you doing?” asks Frédéric Encel. “You increase the pressure, because you can’t end the war without having achieved something.”

The bombardments are therefore likely to intensify in the coming days. This is already the case in Kiev and Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine now in the hands of the Russian army. More than a million people have already fled the country according to the latest UN count.

In Russia, part of the population also opposes the war. Frédéric Encel believes that Vladimir Poutine is not “massively supported” and that there is “mistrust”.
