Frederick Lau did it: he is now one of the most sought-after German film stars. Now he can be seen in “Cloud under the roof”.
Frederick Lau (32) has become one of the most famous and sought-after actors in the country in recent years. From Thursday (April 28) he can be seen in the cinema in the new drama “Wolke unterm Dach”. A life between professional success and a seemingly perfect private life.
Lau began his career at the age of ten in the ZDF series “Achterbahn”. This was followed by numerous roles such as in “The Flying Classroom”, “Bibi Blocksberg and the Secret of the Blue Owls” or “The Wave” – with the film he celebrated his breakthrough. In the film adaptation of the bestseller, he played alongside Jürgen Vogel (53) and received the German Film Prize for best supporting actor for his role.
After his success in the prison drama “Picco”, the versatile actor was able to convince in “Turkish for Beginners”, “Oh Boy” or “4 Blocks”. Lau received the German Film Award for Best Actor for the thriller “Victoria”, which was released in 2015. This was followed by well-known films such as “The Perfect Secret”, “Nightlife” and “Betonrausch”. He received the Grimme Prize for “Neue Vahr Süd”. Only recently, Lau was seen in the movie “Wonderful” in the cinema.
Frederick Lau is a father of three
The actor has also found happiness in his private life. He has been married to his wife Annika Lau (43) since 2015. Together with the presenter he has three children. Even if the two share private snapshots from their lives from time to time, they keep their children out of the public eye.
However, the couple recently revealed how the upbringing is divided. Annika Lau said in an RTL interview: “It’s actually a little different for us: I’m super soft and educating is mostly done by Freddy.” She introduces “rituals […] but the right education – how to behave and so on – that’s all Freddy does,” said the presenter.
Family man on the big screen
Lau now plays the nurse Paul in his new film “Wolke unterm Dach”. He has found his great love. He leads a happy life together with the stewardess Julia (Hannah Herzsprung) and their daughter Lilly (Romy Schroeder). The family is eventually torn apart by Julia’s sudden death and Paul falls into a deep hole. He wants to be both a father and a mother to his daughter while dealing with numerous other problems. His daughter uses imagination to cling to her dead mother and move into the attic. The film was directed by the Swiss director Alain Gsponer (46,”Heidi”). Dirk Ahner (48, “Jim Knopf”) wrote the screenplay, inspired by the personal fate of author Chris Silber (50).
By the way, next Saturday, April 30, Lau will face the challenge on the ProSieben show “Beat the Star”. From 8:15 p.m. he then competes against the rapper Marteria (39). First, Lau was supposed to play footballer Max Kruse (34) at the end of January. However, a corona infection prevented this.
