On May 15th the “Free ESC” rises at ProSieben. As spot on news learned from production circles, Ben Dolic will compete.

For the second time, ProSieben is organizing the “Free European Song Contest”, or “Free ESC” for short. However, the station has not yet announced who will compete in the competition for the individual countries in just over a week. The news agency spot on news has now learned from production circles that Ben Dolic (24) will be there. Most likely, he will then hold up the flags for his home country Slovenia.

However, the Munich private broadcaster did not (yet) want to confirm the 24-year-old’s participation. When asked by spot on news, ProSieben simply said: “We are happy about speculation, but we do not participate in it.” The broadcaster announces the complete list of participants for the “Free European Song Contest” 2021 “on May 12th live at our digital press conference”.

In 2020 Ben Dolic was supposed to represent Germany at the ESC

Last year Ben Dolic was supposed to compete for Germany with the title “Violent Thing” at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Rotterdam. However, after the outbreak of the corona pandemic, the major event was canceled. It was initially unclear whether he would make up for his participation this year. In November of last year, however, Dolic announced that he did not want to compete again. Instead, 26-year-old Jendrik Sigwart from Hamburg will enter the ESC ring for Germany on May 22nd with the song “I Don’t Feel Hate”.

The “Free European Song Contest” took place as an alternative event for the first time in 2020 after the actual ESC was canceled. The winner was Nico Santos (28), who competed for Spain. The idea comes from ProSieben veteran Stefan Raab (54). A total of 16 countries will send musicians to the start of the competition, which will take place on May 15th from 8:15 pm on live TV. They all vie for twelve points to be awarded per country.
