Reserved for Revolution, Delta subscribers, and the mobile versions of OQEE by Free, the “PiP” functionality, which allows you to switch a watched program in miniature, is finally extended to the TV Player of Freebox Pop and Ultra.

As incredible as it may seem, it was not yet possible for Freebox Ultra and Pop subscribers and Android TVs to navigate its interface while continuing to watch its program. Free corrected this deficiency just a few days ago, and the new feature is quite appreciable. Clubic we also present the functionality, called “Picture-in-Picture” (PiP), in more detail.

How the PiP option works is rather simple on Freeboxes

The PiP function allows you to watch a channel or program while keeping an eye on another. Once activated, it switches the channel being watched in large format, while the PiP preview mode is displayed in a frame generally at the bottom left. Quite practical when, for example, you switch to another channel during advertising, and you don’t want to miss the resumption of your program.

To access this option, you must, on your remote control, press the central button, then press the “Down” key twice, until you reach the button at the bottom right of the screen, which symbolizes an image in a picture.

To exit the preview, simply return to the interface home page, using the “Home” button, where you will see a small, easily recognizable banner appear, with two buttons: “Details” and “Ignore”. “. By clicking on “Details”, you will see two other buttons appear: on the left, “Full screen”; and the “Close Pip mode” cross, on the right, which must be clicked to exit the functionality.

Among Freebox subscribers, there are now no more jealous people

The Picture-in-Picture option was until now only accessible to users of the OQEE by Free application on Android and iOS mobiles, as well as on the Freebox Delta and Révolution. From now on, it is available to users of a Free 4K TV Player, in other words to Freebox Pop and Ultra subscribers, as well as to owners of a compatible Android TV television.

Finally, we will add that the mode works even when you exit the OQEE by Free application. It actually works when you navigate the Freebox interface. On the other hand, the thumbnail disappears when you launch another video outside of the OQee by Free TV application, whether on Netflix, YouTube and others.

Some chemistry with Tech, certainly, but also with the world of media, sport and travel. In addition to journalism, video production and animation, I have a YouTube channel (in my name) which should pique your curiosity if you like beautiful walks around the world, new technologies and music 🙂
