“Free Guy” has been running in the cinema for a few days. It is already clear that the film should have a sequel.

Ryan Reynolds (44) ‘s new film “Free Guy” has just started in the cinemas, when the actor can already announce that the action comedy should get a sequel. For three years he tried to establish “Free Guy” as a new brand, writes Reynolds on Twitter. And further: “Disney confirmed today that they officially want a sequel. Woo hoo!” He also uses the hashtag #irony (Eng. “Irony”).

Both the film’s director, Shawn Levy, 53, and 20th Century Studios, part of the Walt Disney Company, seemed to endorse Reynolds’ contribution. Levy commented on the tweet of the actor with a “Yuuuuuuuup”, the film production company shared the post without comment in a retweet. An inquiry from the industry magazine “Variety” Disney didn’t want to answer yet.

What the film is about

In addition to Reynolds, Jodie Comer (28), Taika Waititi (45) and Joe Keery (29) can be seen in “Free Guy”. Guy (Reynolds) works as an employee of a bank and one day meets the woman of his life (Comer). He discovers that he is an unplayable character in a video game and tries to become a hero.

According to the industry paper, it currently looks as if “Free Guy” will top the US cinema charts after this weekend. On Friday alone, the action comedy was able to gross around 10.5 million US dollars in North America. Another $ 13 to 16 million is expected on Saturday and Sunday.
