Free has just announced very bad news for Freebox subscribers accustomed to sending faxes. Indeed, the Fax Free service will close its doors definitively on November 30, 2022. The operator has started to warn its users by email.
If the fax is a rather obsolete technology in the eyes of the general public, some companies still use it to communicate official documents. Free is also one of the few operators to offer a fax service called Fax Free. Offered free of charge to all subscribers, all you have to do is go to your customer area, then to the Telephony section to send and consult their faxes.
If the user does not have a fax number associated with the Free account, simply request the activation of the service to obtain a number in just 24 hours. You are then free to send the file of your choice (PDF, Doc, txt, XLS, jpeg, PPT, etc.) to your recipient. Unfortunately, if you are used to the service, it will soon be necessary to do without it.
The Fax Free service lives its last moments
In effect, Free has just confirmed the end of the Free Fax service as of November 30, 2022. In addition, all those who have not yet activated the option can no longer do so today. On the other hand, those who had generated a fax number will therefore be able to take advantage of the service until the fateful date mentioned above. To this date, the service will therefore close its doors permanently.
If you are a Free subscriber, you may have received an email from the operator to inform you of the end of the Free Fax service. As a reminder, if Free therefore buries its dedicated fax service, the operator has integrated several new features in recent months. For example, VoWiFi has been available to all subscribers since February 2022.
This technology allows you to use your Wi-Fi Free network to make your calls, which is practical for benefiting from better quality, especially in the event of a weak signal. VoLTE has also been available on all compatible smartphones since November 2021. This service allows you to make phone calls using Free’s 4G network. In addition, Free has confirmed that all devices launched since January 1, 2022 are compatible with the operator’s VoLTE.
