It has been more than ten years since Free Mobile, Xavier Niel’s operator, has not increased its prices. In the small world of telecoms, we can speak of an exploit. For their part, the competitors of the Iliad group regularly increase their prices, especially when the offers are non-binding. And never mind! Free the announcement: the prices of its mobile plans will not change for a while.

Free Mobile, the price change… it’s not for now

Ten years after its arrival on the market of mobile offers, Free has not subjected its subscribers to an increase in its prices. The operator announces itself, this Tuesday April 26, to want maintain in 2022 the course set when it was launched ten years ago “.

” At least for the next five years “, Free Mobile does not intend to impose an increase in the prices of its two historical packages, namely the 2 euro package and the Free package. The company adds that it applies this policy to both current subscribers and future customers.

The 2 euro package (or 0 euro for Freebox subscribers) from Free Mobile will therefore be maintained at this rate. It now includes 2 hours of calls, unlimited SMS and MMS as well as a 50 MB data envelope in 4G and 4G+. The Free Package, now 4G and 5G, will remain at 19.99 euros per month (or 15.99 euros per month for Freebox subscribers), with an increasingly substantial data envelope (currently 210 GB), calls, SMS and unlimited MMS as well as 25 GB of Internet in 4G in more than 70 destinations, including Canada, Australia and the United States.

The promise to maintain tariffs renewed

As we said, and it is also to the credit of Free Mobile, the operator with 13.6 million mobile subscribers has not only blocked the prices of its two historical packages since 2012, but it has also changed the upward proposal. The Free Package, for example, was originally only equipped with 3 GB of data at one time, which was certainly sufficient.

Since then, it has increased to 20 GB, then 50, 100, 150, and today, 210 GB, to meet the sometimes very high needs of its customers. And for the past few months, this same plan has also been available in 5G, at no additional cost. Roaming, too, has swelled in recent years.

If the mobile coverage of the territory of Free is still not up to that of its competitors, which arrived earlier on the market, it is progressing from year to year. The operator, despite investments, inflation and the deployment of 5G, intends to remain true to its values.
