Columbia TriStar Films

welcome to the jungle

The adventure comedy Welcome to the Jungle, released in theaters in 2004, tells the story of Beck (Dwayne Johnson) who, in order to settle a debt, must cross the Amazon jungle to bring back Travis (Seann William Scott), the son of a wealthy landowner on a treasure hunt.

However, after finding him, the bounty hunter will join him to fight Hatcher (Christopher Walken), the cruel and crooked manager of a gold mine. Things will get even more complicated when the two men both fall in love with the beautiful Mariana (Rosario Dawson).

The Rock and Seann William Scott (far from his schoolboy role in the American Pie saga) underwent intensive physical preparation for Welcome to the Jungle. The first lost nearly 18 kilos for the role while the second, for his part, came out of five months of training with harnesses and cables for The Guardian of the Sacred Manuscript, and was therefore in good condition.

Note that a certain Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a little wink appearance in Welcome to the Jungle!

hamilton

In the action thriller Hamilton: In the Nation’s Interest, Sweden’s biggest local box office hit of 2012, Mikael Persbrandt (Jakob, Gillian Anderson’s boyfriend, in Sex Education) plays Carl Hamilton, a secret service who infiltrates a mafia organization specializing in arms trafficking.

While trying to identify buyers during a transaction, the convoy is attacked by a group of heavily armed individuals. The only survivor, Hamilton will relentlessly track down these men around the world to find out who they are and for whom they work…

Note that Mikael Persbrandt will find his role in Hamilton 2: secret detention, also available for free on France.tv.

The sun’s Teardrops

The action film Tears of the Sun, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, the Equalizer saga), immerses the viewer in Nigeria, when the President’s family has just been assassinated and a civil war is on the verge to burst.

A secret commando led by Lieutenant Waters (Bruce Willis) is sent to the edge of the jungle to evacuate Lena Kendriks (Monica Bellucci), a female doctor working for a humanitarian organization, from a village threatened by rebels. But the course of the mission changes when it refuses to leave without the villagers…

To give as much authenticity as possible to Tears of the Sun, Antoine Fuqua insisted that the roles of the refugees be played by people who have often experienced the reality of these situations. By integrating them into the production of the film, the director also wanted to draw attention to their plight. Among the extras and performers discovered, there are Kenyans, Senegalese, Congolese, Nigerians and Liberians.

All the actors in the film have undergone training under the supervision of former Navy Seal Harry Humphries. Mode of operation, strategy, handling of weapons and equipment, no aspect has been left to chance. Finally, it should be noted that the American army has made available for production several combat helicopters but also F 18 fighter planes. The team has also been authorized to shoot aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.
