Free ski subscription for Valais politicians: legal after the Maudet ruling?

Valais winter sports areas distribute massively discounted or even free ski passes to government members, federal parliamentarians and local councils. Is this still possible after the Maudet judgment?

Skiing is excellent in Valais – for some politicians it’s even free.

Research by French-speaking Switzerland radio and television (RTS) made people sit up and take notice, and it could still have a wide impact: several Valais ski areas are giving cantonal and national politicians annual ski passes free of charge or at a ridiculous price. Quite a few gratefully accept the gifts. The practice has been established in the Alpine canton for a long time – but this does not change the fact that corruption experts consider it punishable, especially against the background of the new supreme court ruling.
