While a new advantage has just been offered to Freebox Delta owners, a new update has appeared for Free internet boxes. On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the ISP deployed version 4.8.15 of the firmware for its Freebox Ultra, Pop, Revolution and Delta.
The fix that will speak to most people concerns wireless connectivity. We learn that the fragmentation problem on the 2.4 GHz band in wifi 7 has been corrected. Thus, Freebox Pop and Ultra compatible with this standard benefit from a faster, more reliable and more stable network.
Free then explains that the latest update of its Freeboxes corrects the bug of renaming files downloaded on newsgroups, and that it now prevents the allocation of IP addresses outside the configured DHCP range.
To install the new version 4.8.15 on your Freebox, simply restart it manually.
Please note that owners of a Free wifi repeater are also entitled to an update (n°2.3.24). On the program, one single improvement: “The LED will remain off when the repeater goes into standby mode if the user has disabled it in Freebox Connect”. For this device, the deployment of the new software version is automatic.
