“Razoni” finds new corn buyer in Turkey

The first Ukrainian grain carrier since the beginning of the war seems to have completed its delivery. After a Lebanese buyer dropped out at the last few seconds, a Turkish customer is said to be interested in the 26,000 tons of corn on board.
The day-long stalemate of the grain freighter “Razoni” is apparently over. As the ship tracking services vesselfinder.com and marinetraffic.com showed in the evening, he has entered the Turkish Mediterranean port of Mersin. According to a media report, a new buyer for the 26,000 tons of corn on board had previously been found.
The “Razoni” was the first ship to leave the Ukrainian port of Odessa with grain on board since the beginning of the war. The freighter was supposed to dock in the Lebanese Tripoli last Sunday. However, this did not happen. According to Ukrainian information, the Lebanese buyer of the 26,000 tons of corn withdrew from the purchase contract because the delivery had been delayed by five months due to the Russian war of aggression.
A new buyer was then desperately sought. According to the website The Middle East Eye, a buyer has now been found in Turkey. The online medium refers to a ship agent.
Wheat follows next week
Because of the Russian war of aggression, all of Ukraine’s grain exports from its Black Sea ports have been blocked in recent months, contributing to a global food crisis. Just recently, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN agreed on an agreement to break the blockade.
After the “Razoni” several more freighters started. These all had mainly corn on board. The first ship with wheat is scheduled to leave Ukraine next week, as the responsible UN coordinator Frederick Kenney announced in Istanbul. The center for monitoring the agreement on grain exports is located in the Turkish metropolis.
