French Cup: violent clashes in Paris on the sidelines of tonight’s final (video)

A brawl broke out this morning around the Gare de Lyon in Paris between supporters of FC Nantes and OGC Nice, the two finalist clubs in the Coupe de France. Two people were slightly injured by jets of bottles.

A shocking scene. Shortly before 10 a.m., Nice supporters were having a drink on the terrace of the “Aux Cadrans” brasserie. Suddenly, around thirty supporters, presumably from Nantes, swooped down on them.

Projectiles made up of glasses, bottles, chairs or even tables were projected towards Nice supporters, as shown in a video circulating on social networks. Obviously, nothing was spared. The attack, moreover, caused two minor injuries, shot in the head.

“Nantais were looking for Niçois”

According to a police source at Le Parisien, an anti-fascist group was present in the ranks of Nantes supporters.

“The people of Nantes were obviously in the area to fight it out. They were looking for people from Nice, otherwise they had no reason to be there”, explained a source close to the investigation to the newspaper.

As a precaution, cafes and bars have decided to close their terraces. After the incident, agents from the city of Paris cleaned the sidewalks and removed the pieces of glass.

Following this brawl, a large police force crisscrossed the Gare de Lyon district to carry out checks. Since noon, 39 arrests have been made by the police on the outskirts of the Paris train station, according to a source familiar with the matter for CNEWS.

As a reminder, FC Nantes meets OGC Nice on the lawn of the Stade de France for the final of the Coupe de France this Saturday evening at 9 p.m.
