The 240GB PNY CS900 SSD is a great surprise. It’s not the best SSD on the market, but it still offers a consistent and satisfactory performance. With its floor price, it represents an interesting purchase for most uses.
Strong points
- Reading rates.
- Write speeds with active cache.
- Cache that does not saturate during manual copies.
Weak points
- Fairly weak cache: only 4 GB.
- Random access set back from the best.
- Out-of-cache write throughputs.

Sold at a low price, the Kingston A400 240 GB is proof that you don’t have to break the bank to get an SSD with the correct performance. Admittedly, there are models with a much higher speed, but at prices that are sometimes doubled and for a gain in use that is often imperceptible. With its rather stable speeds, we are dealing here with a good quality/price ratio, whether for office use or for integration into a gaming machine.
