The top favorites Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are still not naked at the French Open.

The top 10 players

  • Novak Djokovic (SRB / ATP 3) see Juan Pablo Varillas (PER / ATP 94) 6: 3, 6: 2, 6: 2
  • Carlos Alcaraz (ESP/ATP 1) sees Lorenzo Musetti (ITA/ATP 18) 6:3, 6:2, 6:2
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE/ATP 5) sees Sebastian Ofner (AUT/ATP 118) 7: 5, 6: 3, 6: 0

Novak Djokovic (ATP 3) made short work of his Peruvian opponent Juan Pablo Varillas (ATP 94). The Serb only needed 1:57 hours for his convincing 3-set victory, beating a strong 35 winners. The only annoying thing for the world number 3 is that he was only able to convert 6 out of 12 breakballs. His 17th entry into the quarterfinals of the French Open is a record. So far, Djokovic had shared this record with Rafael Nadal.

Also Carlos Alcaráz as the second top favorite for the title, won his round of 16 without any problems. The world number one from Spain also defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6:3, 6:2, 6:2. The Italian had won the same duel in the final of the ATP tournament in Hamburg 2022. “I played at a very high level,” Alcaraz said afterwards. The 20-year-old would have to keep this up on the way to his second Grand Slam title, and in the round after next there could be a dream semi-final between Djokovic and Alcaraz.

But first Alcaraz has to face a duel Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek world number 5 showed no weaknesses in their round of 16 against the Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner. Tsitsipas needed just 1:48 hours for the 3-set victory.
