French-speaking star Aya Nakamura in concert on Fortnite, or the certainty of an island

“Hello papi but qué pasa? I hear excruciating bails on me.” No, nothing atrocious, quite the contrary, Aya. The most listened to Franco-Malian artist in the world, Aya Nakamura, is about to give a somewhat special, but very glorious concert. From October 6 to 9, the young singing star will deliver an interactive show within the game Fortnite from Epic Games. Between two battle royaleplayers will therefore be able to trade the sounds of struggle for the hits Dja Dja Where girlfriends of the artist.

As was the case in the past, the concert will take place on an adjacent island, called here the island of Aya Nakamura (original, isn’t it?). Players will be able to go there from October 6 from 6 p.m., and will obviously have to leave their weapons in the locker room. The island is the work of the American studio Atlas Creative, while the clip consisting of five songs by the artist, forming this concert of about 15 minutes, is signed by the French studio Mado XR which also created the avatar by Aya Nakamura.

Epic Games outlines how to do this: “Once in fortnite, click the Change button (in the lobby). The Discover screen will then appear and you can click on the Sound Wave Series: Aya Nakamura box. You can also switch to the Island Code screen and enter the code 3500-0540-0065.”

Once the concert is over, a few giveaways will be offered to the curious. They’ll pick up the Girlfriends emote from the Item Shop, as well as the island loading screen, a spray, and a parachute. And as microtransactions fill the coffers with Fortnite and Epic Games, the creator has not yet planned to sell skins and other collectibles bearing the image of the singer.

It is also the first time that a French-speaking artist has been featured in a globally successful video game. Before Aya Nakamura, other artists collaborated with Fortnite to offer interactive concerts. But we were talking about American stars such as Travis Scott or Ariana Grande, who are still evolving to another level in terms of starification. Travis Scott, for example, gathered more than 12 million spectators during his event.
