According to the OECD, it takes 35 years of experience for teachers in France to go from starting salary to the highest salary, compared to 26 years on average in OECD countries. Salaries remain below the OECD average at every stage of the career, at all levels of education except kindergarten, the report adds, specifying that the gap is greater with 10 and 15 years of experience than at the start or end of a career.
