Meeting at Clairefontaine since Tuesday, the Blues still have two matches to play as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. But while the Blues have already obtained their ticket for the competition, attention has rather focused this week on the young Warren Zaire-Emery, this high school student who already impresses with his maturity.
Finish the job in style. After masterfully conducted qualifiers with six victories in as many matches, the French football team is already qualified for the next Euro 2024, but must still face the Gibraltar team on Saturday and Greece on Tuesday. But since the arrival of the Blues at Clairefontaine this week, attention has mainly focused on the young Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Warren Zaire-Emery, 17, called up for the first time by Didier Deschamps.
A diligent student
Despite his young age, Warren Zaire-Emery had no apprehension about appearing at a press conference on Thursday. “That didn’t particularly worry me, I also take it as an exercise for the baccalaureate,” he confided to journalists. Because the midfielder is a final year student and did well in the French baccalaureate. “It’s okay, I did well, I got 10 oral and 12 written.”
Footballer and high school student, Warren Zaire-Emery took his notebooks to Clairefontaine. He even learned his Spanish lesson this week. “As soon as I have time, I do my homework, then practice in the afternoon and a little class before the session,” he described to journalists.
And the youngest of the Blues can count on the oldest of the group, Olivier Giroud, 20 years his senior. The latter welcomed the newcomer very well to Clairefontaine, as the 37-year-old striker confided exclusively on Europe 1. “I did everything I could to put him at ease, I said congratulations and welcome.” And the high school footballer was even able to greet the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, who was visiting Clairefontaine. The latter encouraged the Blues to film a clip on school bullying.
