French Tech: Voodoo, French gaming specialist, will launch its own cryptocurrency

The period of strong turbulence that the ecosystem of cryptoassets is going through does not worry Voodoo too much. Indeed, the mobile video game publisher is currently working on the creation of a cryptocurrency. Called Voodoo Coin, it should be launched in the third quarter of 2023, according to information from The Big Whalemedia specialized in the Web3.

In this context, an ICO (Initial Coin Offering), i.e. a fundraiser in cryptocurrencies, will be launched. This type of financing, regulated since 2019 by the Pacte law, has the advantage of raising a lot of money in a short time, freeing itself from the constraints of the traditional venture capital financing circuit. The sum raised on this occasion would complete the more than 500 million dollars raised by the company from investors like Tencent and Goldman Sachs since its creation in 2013.

Voodoo wants to launch blockchain-based games

Voodoo, which claims over 300 million monthly users and over 6 billion downloads to date, also plans to launch Voodoo Infinity, a blockchain-based video game platform. At the end of 2021, the tricolor company had announced its wish to invest 200 million dollars in 2022 in studios developing blockchain-based mobile video games.

At present, Voodoo is working on the development of a dozen games on the blockchain, according to The Big Whale. With its approach, the publisher hopes to be a pioneer in the gaming ecosystem to tip the sector into the era of Web3, announced as the next major change in the Web.
