On February 14, Tahar Rahim will be the big bad guy in “Madame Web”, a Marvel film located in the same universe as “Venom” and “Morbius”, and whose trailer was unveiled this week. But who does he play in the feature film.
After Venom and Morbius, and while waiting for Kraven, Madame Web will extend Sony’s Marvel universe, focused on characters linked to Spider-Man despite the latter’s absence in their films. Directed by SJ Clarkson, who worked on the Jessica Jones series, the feature film features a superheroine played by Dakota Johnson who is capable of seeing the future.
Brought to become two versions of Spider-Woman, Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney) and Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor) will also be there. Faced with a villain played by Tahar Rahim, who continues his international adventure after Designated Guilty and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
The trailer unveiled this Wednesday, November 15, confirmed what photos of his stunt double on the set suggested, namely that the actor revealed by A Prophet will wear a Spider-Man outfit. At the time, there were two options as to who his character could be, and the first images from the film give us the answer.
Marvel Comics Ezekiel Sims in comic books
Tahar Rahim therefore plays a certain Ezekiel Sims. Created in 2001 in issue 30 of “The Amazing Spider-Man”, he is a businessman and explorer, who acquired powers similar to those of Peter Parker during a ritual with spiders in Peru. He uses it only for himself and the empire he is building, not others. But he’s not always bad in the comic books.
He even, for a time, acted as a mentor to Spider-Man, seeking to protect the latter and his ilk from a vampire called Morlun, who sought to absorb their strength. Given what the trailer shows, have the characters of Ezekiel and this villain merged into a single antagonist that the heroines will have to get rid of?
Or does the trailer hide Morlun’s presence by presenting Sims as the villain of the story? Response on February 14 in theaters.
